Sober Crowd is a peer-led community for people living alcohol-free. We provide opportunities for connection, support and friendship - online and in person - helping people build positive, fulfilling lives around their sobriety.

We’re not a replacement for AA or other treatment or professional services.  Anyone who needs urgent or specialist help should contact an appropriate healthcare or recovery service.  Sober Crowd is here for what comes next…maintaining and supporting sobriety within a positive community.

How can you help?  Employers, community organisations and charities can all play an important part simply by making people aware that groups like Sober Crowd exist.  You don't need to identify who might benefit. You can make it visible to everyone.

Sobriety is great for those who find alcohol a challenge but also great for everyone who is seeking improved mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Please access and use the resources on this page so we can help you create a supportive organisation for those living alcohol free.

Everything at Sober Crowd is led by people with lived experience - we are a recognised Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO).

What does Sober Crowd offer?

connection.png

The first local Sober Crowd group is focused around Newbury and the surrounding areas of West Berkshire and North Hampshire.  If your organisation operates in these areas, everything on this page will be relevant.  If you are further afield, many of the resources below will still be relevant and help you make a difference.  However, people in your organisation may not find Sober Crowd Newbury of specific assistance.

If you're a local employer, charity, community organisation or voluntary group and would like to explore how Sober Crowd could support your people, we'd love to hear from you.

Managers don't need to become alcohol counsellors. Give them simple information about where people can obtain professional help – and where people already living sober can find community and peer connection.

Think about workplace socials, celebrations and hospitality. Good alcohol-free choices shouldn't feel like the consolation prize - and nobody should have to explain why they aren't drinking.

We've created ready-to-use wording and graphics for newsletters, staff emails, Teams, intranets and noticeboards.

Add information about Sober Crowd alongside other organisations and resources available to staff and volunteers.

FREE toolkit for your organisation

We have thought about what would make it as easy as possible for you to have a positive impact within your organisation and improve things for those seeking, or living, an alcohol-free life.  Access the resources in our toolkit - use what is helpful and enable people to know there is real lived experience support available.

It's worth it if you help one person find their crowd

Sometimes support starts with simply knowing what's out there.

You may share one of our posters and never know who noticed it.
You may include Sober Crowd in a staff newsletter and never know who clicked.
Someone may join our Facebook group without ever telling their employer how they found us.

Thank you for helping us make Sober Crowd visible:
